Crop Till It's White
If you crop a photo enough, everybody in it is white.

What they sold
January 2025. New York magazine put an inauguration-week party on its cover: a "Power 30 Awards" event for pro-Trump influencers, hosted by conservative activist CJ Pearson. The story described the crowd as almost entirely white (REPORTED, Daily Beast). Honest note: this was New York magazine's story. FNN found no CNN role. It's on this list as a mainstream-media page.
What the record shows
The full image, published online, showed Black attendees, including Pearson himself, rapper Waka Flocka Flame and boxer Gervonta Davis (Hollywood Reporter, Daily Beast). Pearson said cropping them out was deliberate and threatened legal action (Fox News, TheWrap). The magazine said the cover was a center-crop of the full photo. Intent is DISPUTED. The result isn't: the cover left out the Black guests, and the copy described a white room.
The damage
FNN analysis: this is one of the most self-defeating moves in media. You decide what the room looks like, and then the guests post their own photos. The crop isn't hidden. It's being fact-checked live by the people you cut out. Gallup: Republicans' trust in media hit 8% in 2025. Covers like this one are how you get there.
