Section 60 and the Spin War
The Army confirmed it happened. Everybody fought over the adjectives.
CNN
The Army confirmed a scuffle. The families invited him. The coverage picked a side before the facts landed.

Arlington Cemetery Hoax
What they sold
August 26, 2024. Trump visits Arlington National Cemetery on the anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing in Kabul. Reports said campaign staff clashed with a cemetery official over filming in Section 60, where political activity is banned. CNN, August 29: "US Army rebukes Trump campaign for incident at Arlington National Cemetery." The coverage message: Trump used the dead as campaign props.
What the record shows
The Army said a cemetery employee enforcing the rules was "abruptly pushed aside," and said she acted professionally. The matter went to police, she chose not to press charges, and the Army considered it closed (NYT, AP, NPR). So the incident is not a hoax. The Army confirmed it on the record.
What the right calls the hoax is the framing. Gold Star families of service members killed at Abbey Gate invited Trump and supported the visit and the photos (REPORTED). Coverage that cast it as Trump crashing the graves left those families out. Both facts are true. A fair story includes both.
The damage
FNN analysis: the families of the 13 got turned into background extras in a campaign fight, by both campaigns and by the press. Gallup's 2024 trust reading was 31% that September. When grief becomes a political prop, every side loses.
Closer
The Army's statement is real. So are the families. Run both, or stay quiet.
